Flavor Profile

A sophisticated celebration of Louis de Sacy’s historic cellars, Grand Soir represents the most outstanding harvests of Champagne Louis de Sacy, an assemblage of 71% pinot noir and 29% chardonnay. Before release, the 2011 vintage spent more than 10 years on fine lees, and received a dosage of 3g/L.

The deep complexity and layering of this superbly crafted Champagne can already be detected in the aroma, which continuously reveals new aromas upon airing: soft limestone minerality, green lemon, marzipan, honey, a hint of Darjeeling, lavishly buttered toast. The sip is rich, complex and dynamic, characterized by rich fruitiness and a well-articulated brioche character in addition to its minerality. In addition to the flavors, elegant, fine, effervescent bubbles perfect the sip.

PRODUCER INFORMATION

Producer: Champagne Louis de Sacy

The Sacy family runs an organic, 18-hectare grower Champagne estate based in Verzy, where they also cultivate Grand Cru vineyards. The family’s connection to the Champagne region dates back to 1633, while their winemaking history began in the 1960s.

Their vineyards around Reims are planted with the region’s classic grape varieties: 65% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 5% Pinot Meunier. Sustainable and environmentally conscious farming is at the heart of their approach, while in the cellar they place equal emphasis on technical precision, openness, and patience.

This combination of deep roots in the region, careful organic farming, and a thoughtful approach to winemaking allows the Sacy family to create Champagnes that reflect both their heritage and the character of their vineyards.
