Flavor Profile

Cserszegi Fűszeres is a typical Hungarian grape, bred in the 1960s from Irsai Olivér and Piros Traminer. It is a medium-resistant variety that produces good sugar and acid, and is typically harvested in the second half of September. The 2022 vintage produced a light, fruity wine, with a nose of marly, calcareous minerals, as well as fruity notes of red apple and pear. In addition, some restrained florality is present in the sip, accompanied by grapey fruitiness and a soft allspice character.

PRODUCER INFORMATION

Producer: Skrabski Borászat

The foundations of Skrabski Winery were laid in the 1990s, with the winery taking its current professional form in April 2007. Today, the family cultivates 12 hectares of its own organically farmed vineyards, primarily on the Les Hill, where a dry, Mediterranean-influenced climate and limestone-rich soils create distinctive growing conditions. The vineyards also offer beautiful views over Lake Balaton, while a smaller part of the estate lies in the renowned Vörösmál vineyard.

As a small boutique winery, Skrabski is focused on uncompromising quality and a hands-on approach to winemaking. Their histamine-free wines are shaped by a deep respect for nature and a belief in the importance of terroir, with every stage of production receiving careful, artisanal attention.

The winery’s work is currently led by young winemaker Réka Szántai, who brings a fresh perspective to the estate while maintaining its commitment to organic farming, craftsmanship, and the character of its vineyards.
