Flavor Profile

One of the outstanding offerings of the Garamkövesd cellar, this is not an ordinary, light Veltelini: stylistically, it leans into the natural-ferment profile, slightly reminiscent of a delicate orange wine. After 4-5 hours on the skins, the whole batch was spontaneously fermented, matured in steel on fine lees for 18 months, and then bottled in 2020.

Its aroma is characterized by herbal notes and some animality, alongside rich notes of orange peel, a touch of quinine-like bitterness, bright acidity and a deliciously long finish.

PRODUCER INFORMATION

Producer: Geönczeöl Pince

Attila Geönczeöl has been making wine since the 1990s, bottling his first wine in 1997. The winery was originally established in Leléd, Slovakia, before moving to Garamkövesd in 2006, where Attila and his family now tend their 2.5-hectare estate.

The family works primarily with their own organically grown grapes, occasionally supplementing them with fruit sourced from neighboring vineyards. A close connection to nature lies at the heart of their winemaking philosophy: all Geönczeöl wines ferment spontaneously, without the addition of commercial yeast. They are then given plenty of time to develop, spending extended periods in barrel and bottle, with some wines also resting on their lees for longer periods before release.

The result is a range of wines shaped by patience, minimal intervention, and a strong sense of place.
