Flavor Profile
Pet-Nat, short for the French term pétillant-naturel, refers to naturally sparkling wines made using the méthode ancestrale. The wine is bottled before the primary fermentation is complete, allowing the natural sugars to produce carbonation without any artificial intervention. Before serving, it’s recommended to gently swirl or invert the bottle to mix in the sediment — this completes the true unfiltered Pet-Nat experience.
Mea Rosé shines in a pale pink hue and offers exceptional freshness on the nose — freshly cut citrus fruits, spring flowers, and a hint of freshly cut grass. The palate is dry and vibrant, with notes of lemon, lime, ripe raspberry, and peach, complemented by a zesty lemon peel character and the lively acidity that is a hallmark of Matic’s wines. The finish is bright and playful, full of cherry and sour cherry, paired with a distinctive minerality.

PRODUCER INFORMATION
Producer: Matic Wines
Matic harvests all his grapes by hand and follows biodynamic farming principles. In the cellar, he relies on natural yeasts and spontaneous fermentation, with only minimal amounts of sulfur used when necessary. Most of his wines are matured in stainless steel, helping to preserve the lively acidity and freshness characteristic of Štajerska.
He is particularly proud of Šipon, the region’s most important grape variety, also known as Furmint. It is the basis of his distinctive sparkling wine, Mea Pet Nat. At the same time, Matic is not afraid to explore more traditional and experimental techniques, including extended skin maceration and maturation in clay and concrete vessels.
His approach is simple: work with his hands, follow his instincts, and let the vineyards speak. With a strong connection to both tradition and experimentation, Matic’s wines offer an exciting glimpse into the future of Štajerska.
