Flavor Profile

Spontanea Blend 2020 is the fruit of a collaboration with Stefano Amerighi, a biodynamic winemaker from Cortona: every year since September 2018, Errante have placed a coolship with the still-warm beer must, during the busiest days of the harvest, right in front of the entrance to Stefano Amerighi's cellar.

From the coolship, the brewers fill French oak barrels that once housed Stefano's wines and store them in his old cellar. It's not a grape ale, as there's no grape or derivative input. However, there's a friendly exchange of microflora.

In October 2020, Errante selected the two best barriques from the 2018 vintage, blended them, bottled them, and refermented them in the bottle. A very long aging period in the cellar followed, lasting five years, which gave this beer a beautiful elegance and intensity.

PRODUCER INFORMATION

Producer: Cantina Errante

Cantina Errante is an experimental craft brewery based in Barberino Val d’Elsa, Tuscany, focused on spontaneous and mixed fermentation and a deep respect for local ingredients. Its name, meaning “Wandering Cellar,” perfectly captures the owners’ curious and exploratory approach to fermentation, particularly their work with wild yeasts, bacteria, and barrel aging.
Rather than pursuing large-scale production, Cantina Errante works in small batches, giving each beer the time and attention it needs to develop its own character. Local fruits and other ingredients play an important role, while the surrounding Tuscan landscape and its changing microclimate provide an ever-evolving source of inspiration.

The result is a collection of distinctive, expressive beers, each shaped by the ingredients, fermentation, and conditions of its particular vintage.
