This Scotch ale, brewed with partially peat-smoked malt, was aged for one year in a variety of rum and bourbon barrels. Deep dark red, almost black, with a thin head. Part of the Leaking Barrel series by Slovenian brewery Pelicon, it is an excellent choice for those who enjoy well-balanced smoky flavours.

Pelicon is an independent microbrewery located in the heart of the Vipava Valley, in Ajdovščina. They brew beers that are unfiltered, unpasteurized, and full of flavor. Crafting the kind of beers they love to drink themselves.
After a year of careful preparation and experimentation, Pelicon launched their first brew, Pally Pale Ale, in November 2013. The 3rd Pill IPA followed shortly after, winning two silver medals a year later and being named the best Slovenian beer on RateBeer.com. Since then, their lineup has been steadily growing, with each new recipe combining precision, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
The Leaking Barrel Series is Pivovarna Pelicon’s specialized barrel-aging program dedicated to patience, precision, and time-honored craft. In this project, robust, high-gravity base beers ranging from Imperial Stouts and Baltic Porters to Peated Scotch Ales and Barleywines are slowly matured in carefully curated oak barrels. Months (and often years) of aging allow the beer to extract rich notes of charred wood, vanilla, spirit-soaked oak, and delicate wild undertones, resulting in limited-edition, highly nuanced vintage brews built for slow sipping and cellaring.
